How to crochet a simple daisy motif
Step by step instructions (US/International crochet terminology used)
You will need:
- DK yarn, a minimum of 2 different colours (Colour A - Cream, Colour B - Yellow)
- 3.5mm Hook/ Size E
- Darning/Wool Needle
Step 1 - Making the central ring
With colour A, chain 6.
Step 2 - Making the central ring
Slip stitch into first chain to make a ring.
Step 3 - Round 1
Single crochet 15 times into the ring. You may need to shunt the stitches along with your fingers to ensure that all 15 will fit into the ring.
Step 4 - Round 1
Join with a slip stitch into first single crochet and fasten off.
Step 5 - Round 2 - Petals
With colour B, join yarn with a slip stitch into any single crochet stitch. Chain 10.
Step 6 - Round 2 - Petals
Secure petal by slip-stitching into the same stitch.
Step 7 - Round 2 - Petals
In each stitch from previous round: slip stitch, chain 10 and slip stitch to make each petal.
Step 8 - Round 2 - Petals
You will have 15 petals in total. Finish by slip stitching into the starting stitch. Fasten off.
Step 9 - Finishing off
Weave in all your ends and pull your petals into shape. For extra definition, you can pin your flower onto a folded towel, pinning out each petal and then spray with water and allow to dry.
Step 10 - Experiment
Experiment with different colour combinations!
